Bonsai plants
Bonsai plants are small, beautiful trees that carry a history of tradition along with them. They are planted as ordinary trees but later they are cut down to small size. Bonsai plants require proper care and nurture. Their soil and water needs have to be monitored.
There is a proper schedule for watering indoor bonsai plants. It is fundamental that you soak the plant once or thrice a week. Daily misting is essential. You should also expose the plant indirectly to bright sunlight. You should prune, feed and repot the plant at regular intervals. There are three elements that your bonsai plant needs. These are sunlight, water and food.
First of all, let us discuss about sunlight. Sunlight is fundamental to a bonsai plant’s growth. In case of an indoor bonsai plant, place it in indirect sunlight for five hours. You can take it out during spring and winter months for a waft of fresh light but do not place it in direct sunlight.
In case of an outdoor bonsai plant, remember to protect them from heat. They mostly get their heat during the mornings. But large plants like the junipers and pines require direct heat for a longer time.
Now let’s come to the watering part. Immerse the indoor plants in water, but do not immerse them fully. Just immerse up to the first branch. Bubbles will come up. If the bubbles are few in number, then realize the fact that you don’t need to water the plant for quite some time. When you water always check that the soil should dry a little but not completely. But outdoor bonsai plants require daily watering.
Food is very important to a bonsai plant’s daily requirements. You can introduce a slow feed fertilizer. Bonsai plants grow most rapidly during spring. During this time, they require continuous feeding.
Pruning is another important task which is no less than art. The new growths of the plant need to be shaped according to the growth rate of the plant. Pruning needs to be done using a gentle brush. But for maple and elm trees, you will need to use a scissor. You should prune them by cutting the leaves so that the growth is cut.
Pruning affects the look and health of trees and the techniques of pruning vary with different trees. So be careful as pruning gives the tree its basic shape. If the plant has less leaves or branches then how you prune will affect the tree’s capability of absorbing nutrients from the soil.
Bonsai plants need a lot of care and consideration. Bonsai is a painstaking work. But if you really love miniature sculptures of big trees, then bonsai is your call. So pick up your gardening gloves and get ready to go!
